In today’s world of social media and keeping up with the Joneses, it’s hard for most people who are comfortable financially to stay quiet or humble but one must resist this temptation because it’s a slippery path that could lead to the person downfall and ultimate destruction.
We are currently living in the height of vanity and social media is the number one avenue for people to fluent whatever wealth they think they’ve got. You only need to browse around Instagram to see the depth of this generation vanity.
Due to all these showing off, direct and indirect boasting is the new norm but I encourage you not to indulge the part of you that ask for this because when you start boasting of your success, you are at that moment acting in disobedience to the Laws of this Universe. This is why it is written that “pride goeth before destruction.” Proverbs 16:18.
Pride Goeth Before Destruction
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18 KJV.
In each person there are several spirits battling for the control of the person and the spirit that takes the wheel determines the person’s life experiences.
The good man also have the qualities of the bad man, the only difference is that good man has consciously or unconsciously refused to “feed” the inferior qualities of jealousy, hatred, anger, malice, grudge, pride, arrogance and etc, which are the qualities and spirits the bad man has for some reason “feed” and handed over control of his life to.
When you start boasting of your accomplishments, wealth, health, friends, connections and etc, you are feeding the inferior spirits of pride, arrogance, vanity and disdain. These spirits will only lead you to your downfall and destruction. And what will you benefit from your boastfulness? And why are you even boasting?
You have no right to be boastful. You might have worked 16 hours every day to achieve the success you now currently enjoy but would you have been able to work 16 hours daily if Mother Nature decided to disrupt your goal with a daily persistent strong migraine or tummy problem? The answer is no.
All that you have right now are not yours. Whatever you have right now, you have been given those things because you have proven to Nature, to the Universal Mind that you are capable of looking after them but immediately you start boasting, you are acting in violation of the Laws of the Universe because even though you are only a caretaker, you are now falsely claiming to be the real owner. You own nothing in this reality. Absolutely nothing is yours.
When King Solomon wrote in Proverbs 16:18 that “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” He was telling you that immediately you indulge the vain side of you that wants to be boastful, that side of you that wants to display arrogant superiority to others, you are making false claims.
You are claiming to be the real owner of something which you were only the caretaker and because you making this false claim, Nature will swiftly relieve you of all your duties pertaining to your stewardship of all that the Great Mind has left in your care. Unfortunately, in these circumstances, Nature relieves us of our duties through our downfall.
Increase Your Wealth With Humility
By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life. – Proverbs 22:4. KJV.
If you ever feel the need to show off or be boastful, use it as a reminder to be humble. Stay humble by appreciating what you have, respect others, help those around you in secret, be open to new ideas and teachings, compliment other people’s efforts and if you must correct someone, do it in a respectable way.
Doing the things stated in the paragraph above will only attract more riches and honour to you because Nature who is ever watchful would have seen that you are a great caretaker and because you have shown that you are competent in looking after all that has been placed in your care, you will be given more.
It is a Law of this universe that those who have displayed competency in whatever that they are tasked with, will be given more and better. This is how you get promoted in every area of life.
Thus says the Lord:
“Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom,
Let not the mighty man glory in his might,
Nor let the rich man glory in his riches;
But let him who glories glory in this,
That he understands and knows Me,
That I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these, I delight,” says the Lord.
– Jeremiah 9:23-24
If a friend of yours gives you a car and a house would you be running around social media, showing off to all who care to listen about your new achievement? The answer is probably no because sooner than later that friend of yours will get sick and tired of your boastful acts, which will make him tell everyone that he gave you the car and house you are boastful of. This will lead to an unnecessary amount of shame for you.
In the same manner, a friend who gave you something will regret giving you such a thing due to your boastfulness, that’s the same way Nature will detest your boastful acts and proceed to relieve you of everything that’s making you boastful.
Have you ever wonder how the rich keep getting richer? One of the reasons that some rich people keep getting richer is because they never boast or show off to anyone. Consciously or unconsciously they know that they are only caretakers of whatever it is that they have in their possession and a caretaker never boast about what has been left in his or her care.
Do not boast, instead, glory in the fact that you understand that came with nothing and you will leave with nothing, and whatever you have right now, you are only the caretaker of those things. The manner in which you look after those things and people in your care will determine whether Nature demotes or promotes you.
