You are the only real obstacle in your path to a fulfilling life.
― Les Brown.
A lot of us have goals, dreams and aspirations. Some genuinely believe that their goals are achievable, while others have doubts, then there are those who are some kind of hybrid. I call these people “goals setting hybrids“.
These goals setting hybrids are those who believe that their goals are achievable but they have some serious doubt. They don’t absolutely believe in the attainment of their goals neither do they completely doubt its possibility.
If you are one this type of people, my advice to you today is simple; get out of your way. You are neither cold nor hot. Your lukewarm mindset about your goal is hindering its attainment.
It’s easy for me to sit here and say; get out of your way but this’s easier said than done. We are all humans and as humans, we all have doubts at some level. This doubt creeps into every new thing we try to do. So, to help you out, here are the practical steps to help you get out of your way below.
Am writing this on the assumptions that you already have a clearly defined goal and that you have a clear step by step plan for achieving your goal.
Now that you have your goal and a plan for achieving it, the next thing is to do the work. This means executing your plan to the last detail. Don’t skip any boring or repetitive step just because you find it tedious.
You must do the work required for your goal no matter how boring it becomes. I know from personal experience that a lot of time I will set a goal and create a plan for the goal, in the beginning, am all guns blazing but as weeks and months passes, I get bored of it, either because am finding it hard or repetitive.
If you want to see where this happens a lot, then go to any gym in January. The gym is usually filled with new faces who have made a new year’s resolution (goal) to lose weight and they plan on going to the gym 4 to 5 times every week.
In the first six weeks, most of them are still going strong but by the 8th week, approximately 90% of them would have stopped going to the gym. If this is you, my advice to you is simple: Do the work. Execute your plan to the last detail.
(2) Believe In Yourself
Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.
― Suzy Kassem.
When you start working on your plan, it’s most likely that you will not see any result immediately. It will look like you are wasting your time and resources. This’s when doubt is likely to creep in. But you must not give in to doubts.
Believe in yourself and your goal; close your ears to every voice that’s not supportive of you or your goal, even if the negative voice is yours.
Doubt is the number one killer of dreams and goals. Spiritually, doubt is referred to as the sin against the Holy Spirit, which is an unforgivable sin.
The unforgiving nature of doubt is why it’s the number one killer of dreams and aspirations.
Once you are satisfied that you’ve done the work required of you according to your plan, the next step is to believe in yourself, the process and continue working on your goal.
Remember: Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence – Carl Sagan.
Conclusion
It doesn’t matter if you’re doing daily affirmations or working on a new goal that seems impossible, the only person that can prevent it from reaching fulfilment is you, which is why am advising you today to get out of your way.
The steps to do this are easy to follow. If you’re having trouble remembering them here they are again:
(1) Do the work required.
(2) Believe in yourself and in the possibility of attaining your goal.
The steps are so simple that most people will probably disregard them but don’t be one of these people. Do as advised in this article and you will achieve your goal.
If you have done affirmations before you would have noticed that for the “big desires” you affirmed, it was only after you forgot about them that they manifested. This is because, by forgetting about those desires, you stopped hindering their manifestation with your doubts.
So, these practical steps given in this article applies to both spiritual and physical things. Apply them and you will soon start seeing the result you want.
