Life is about continuous increase and advancement. It is a spiritual law that mankind must continually improve and increase if there is to be life at all. This law is called the Law of Perpetual Increase. In the Law of Perpetual Increase article, I made it clear that it is your duty as an individual to increase in knowledge and achievement because only by an increase in knowledge and achievement can you march forward to greater things in life.
Mankind as a whole are in the right part when it comes to obeying the Law of Perpetual Increase. If we take the phone as an example. First, Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. It was an extraordinary achievement in the existence of humanity but we didn’t stop there. We progressed to the invention of feature cell phone. This too was also an extraordinary achievement because it made it possible for everyone to be connected. It made it possible for you to be on top of a mountain somewhere in Nepal and still be able to call your mum in England, to inform her about your achievement.
Did mankind stop after the invention of feature cellphone? No. We progressed to the invention of Smartphones. Now some of our current smartphones are more powerful than most laptops. By obeying the law of perpetual increase, mankind has moved from the fixed telephone to smartphones in a short period.
You can see from the cell phone example given in the previous paragraphs that there was no stagnancy. There was the desire for a more effective way to communicate. This desire led to several research and better understanding of how we can improve communication and make it much more effective and efficient. At no time were those in the telecommunication sectors ever content. Contentment in knowledge brings stagnancy and stagnancy will always lead to regression, which is death.
In the same manner that those scientists and engineer in the telecommunication sectors were never stagnant, in the same manner, you should also seek to increase your knowledge in everything and improve yourself. There should be no stagnancy in any area of your life.
Both the physical and spiritual world demands of you to increase and improve, so if you are not consistently improving yourself in one way or the other, then you are harming yourself because stagnancy is destructive to you both physically and spiritually. Have this motto in the back of your mind. “Forward ever – No Stagnancy“.
It is only by moving forward and not being stagnant can you be worthy of the kingdom of God. What then is the kingdom of God in the context of this article. Let consider this in the next subheading.
What is the Kingdom of God to you?
In Luke 9:62, Jesus spoke about being worthy of the kingdom of God but what is the kingdom of God to you? A lot of people say that God means different things to different people and this is true. My understanding of God is very different to the understanding a lot of people have about God. No matter what your understanding of God is, you can never be 100% accurate.
In the same manner that God means different things to different people, the Kingdom of God means different things to different people.
For some people, the kingdom of God is somewhere above our reality. Somewhere far away from this reality, where this is no pain or sin. Where everything is clean, pure and holy. Where righteousness is the order of the day.
While for some the kingdom of God is internal peace, love, joy, charity, happiness, harmony, righteousness, holiness and enlightenment. For this group of people, the kingdom of God is 100% spiritual and internal.
And there are others like me who believe the kingdom of heaven is both spiritual and physical, that it is an experience you have while you’re on this earth. For whatever experience you are able to have in this reality, that is what you can take with you to your next life.
This is why I asked, what is the kingdom of God to you? No matter what the kingdom of God is to you, I am not in any position to say you’re right or wrong. But in this article am talking about the kingdom of God as something both spiritual and physical. Spiritual because it is a feeling. A feeling of love, peace, joy, happiness, oneness with God, harmony and etc. And it is also physical because it is success, prosperity, abundance, wealth, good health, progress, creativity and etc. These are what the kingdom of God is to me.
If you’re reading this article, am right to assume your primary purpose isn’t spiritual enlightenment or the spiritual aspect of the kingdom of God because there are others out there who are more equipped and qualify on the subject of spiritual aspect of the kingdom of God, spiritual enlightenment, progress and growth.
I believe am right to assume that your primary purpose for reading this article is for the physical aspect of the kingdom of God. So with this assumption, I progress to the other parts of this article.
Have you ever noticed that whenever you want to make progress in life there is always some form of difficulties standing in your path? This is normal. If you decide to do anything that will add value to you, be it through education, starting a new business or anything else, you’re bound to encounter a few difficulties. This is very normal and you should actually expect it.
When I was a kid I was told that to make progress, one must overcome present difficulties. Your present difficulties might come at the very start, in the middle or when you’re very close to your goal. The only thing certain is that difficulties will show up at some point before you get to your desired destination and because difficulties will show up at some point, this is why it is essential for you to have a very strong support team around you and when the difficulties show up, your support team will be indispensable at that very moment.
In the book of Mark 4:35-41, Christ and his disciples were crossing the sea on a boat (making progress) when they were besieged by strong winds (present difficulties), Christ disciples knew they have a reliable helper in the form of Jesus Christ, so they asked Him for help. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” Mark 4:38 NKJV. Christ rose up and rebuked the wind and there was peace on the sea.
In this short scripture verse, we can see that not long after the disciples and Christ decided to make progress by crossing over to the other side of the sea, problems started. These problems are called present difficulties. They will surely pass if you have faith in yourself and also a strong support team around you. Your support team could be your friends, family members, networking team or a mentor. But you need to have a support team around you for your own sake because a tree does not make a forest.
Consistency and Persistence will always lead to success
In the book of Luke 9:62, Christ spoke about consistency and persistence as the two requirements for the attainment of the kingdom of God. Although you might not see these two requirements if you read the verse with your carnal eyes.
No matter what your description of the kingdom of God is, these two things (Consistency and Persistence), are irreplaceable. In your pursuit of success, you will encounter failure many times. You will be disappointed by people you trusted to deliver. There will be many setbacks and many other things you will rather not experience but through being consistent and persistent, you will have that breakthrough and success you desire.
A lot of people fail in their endeavours these days because they give up too quickly. They are quick to surrender to the challenges life throws on their paths. If they knew from the onset that at some point those challenges will show up in their journey, they might have been well equipped to defeat them. Unfortunately for these people, they are told fairy tales of success. The inspiring success stories they are usually told is “I started a blog site, now am a millionaire” or “I was fed up of my 9-5 job, so I started my own business, now am living in comfort without having to answer to anyone“.
These people hear these stories and they rush to start the blog or the online business without expecting the storm that will hit their boat just like the storm besieged the boat the disciples and Christ were travelling in. And when the storm hits their new business, they are quick to give up and the ones that didn’t completely give up, their business suddenly loses all the zest it had at its beginning.
You cannot attain the kingdom of God if you surrender. Once you make that commitment to start that business, proceed, march forward no matter what difficulties comes your way because greater things are waiting for you ahead. Without consistency and persistence, “you will put your hand to the plow today, and look back tomorrow, and by doing this, you have demonstrated that you are not worthy of the kingdom of God”.
It is important that mankind, in general, is making both physical and spiritual progress. Stagnancy is a regression, and regression is death. But in the pursuit of advancement and increase, we are bound to encounter problems. These problems are to be expected. After all, nothing good comes easily.
A lot of people have the internal desire to better themselves and make bold steps in the area of business and personal growth but they are afraid of failure. They are afraid because they thought that there is a direct path to success that doesn’t involve any type of failure and they don’t know this path. They don’t want to try and fail. What these people don’t know is that all the successful people they see on TV’s or read about in newspapers actually experienced failure at one point in their lives. Sometimes the number of failures were just too much to remember but these successful people ploughed on until success was attained.
Every successful person you know or have read about experienced pain in their personal growth journey. I know personally, I have had some painful experiences but with these painful experiences I have learned and grown.
In the same way, I have had some financially loses in businesses I have started but I learned from these experiences. Tomorrow, someone might see me and say “he is so refined and successful” but what that person might not know is that, for me to get to that level of refinement and success, I encountered failure at almost every junction. In life, you can never stop learning and growing. It is through learning from personal experiences can you truly grow.
If you are reading this, my advice to you is that you should make a commitment to increase your knowledge and advance in life. And I want to tell you now that when you decide to attain success in anything or become rich, there will be difficulties and setbacks. These difficulties and setbacks are good things in disguise. First, it lets you know that what you are doing is a worthy cause and secondly, you are on the right path. Learn from the difficulties and setbacks, use them to your advantage and march forward because greater things are waiting for you ahead.
Be consistent and persistence in whatever you are doing, and by being consistent and persistence, success will certainly come your way. No retreating back to your former life and no surrendering to adversity, troubles and setbacks. Success is assured if you will hearken to this advice.
