A reader wrote to me inquiring about what to do whenever a bad thought comes to his mind. According to him, nothing has worked so far. He has tried ignoring it but that only made it worse. He has also tried changing his thought to something positive but as soon as he changes his thought to something positive, he feels this uncontrollable urge to go back to the bad thought and dwell on it.
I told him, firstly, the willpower of an individual is primarily tested on how able he or she is in controlling the thoughts in their heads. This is really difficult.
And secondly, the fact that he is trying to run away from the thought, means he fears the thought. He fears that those negative thoughts might manifest and he is right. Whatever thought a person dwells on constantly will surely manifest.
At the same time, whatever you fear and fight will persist. So we have a dilemma. He can’t fight it and his will is not strong enough to control his thoughts.
Unfortunately, there are millions like him suffering in silence with negative thoughts which they will rather not have.
The fact is that a person most powerful weapon is his or her mind. So it is of the most important for anyone regain full control of his or her mind. But if one’s mind is besieged by negative thoughts, what can the person do? He or she must use mankind second most powerful weapon, which are words.
The words of your mouth are more powerful than you can begin to imagine. This troubled boy was able to banish his negative thoughts simply by making a statement I instructed him to make. The first few days, it felt like nothing was happening but after a month. Not only did the repetitive bad thought stopped but no other bad thought has crossed his mind since.
So I thought I should share this simple but extremely power statement with you lovely and wonderful people. I must state here that this statement was not originally made by me. It was made by the wonderful, awaken and an enlightened gentleman called Prentice Mulford.
The statement you should make anytime a bad or unpleasant thought crosses your mind is: I reject this thought and all power that comes with it.
Keep repeating this statement until you feel that the thought is subdued. Each time the negative thought comes to your mind repeat this statement. You will notice that you will be having the negative thought(s) less and less until it stopped completely.
There is absolutely no need for you to fear any negative thought. You have the power to banish it back to where it came from. A lot of the time, the negative thoughts you are having are originating from someone else and because your mind is both broadcasting and receiving thoughts, any thought which is being emitted in the same frequency as yours, will easily be received by your mind.
Negative thoughts are broadcasted by people in lower vibrational frequency. So you must develop the habit of being in higher vibrational frequency. Am ALWAYS on a higher vibrational frequency. I achieve this by constantly being on a grateful and playful mindset. Am either singing grateful songs or making jokes inwardly. People always wonder why am always smiling. And since am always singing grateful songs, I always have more things to be grateful for.
Making a statement to banish negative thoughts is you simply treating the symptoms but you are not treating the real cause. The real cause is that you’re vibrating on a low frequency and this is why you are both broadcasting and receiving bad thoughts. I have written an article about vibration. The title is Vibration Precedes Manifestation. You can access it here. I encourage you to read it and cultivate the habit of being in high vibrational frequency.
