The sad thing about this reality is that you could attend all the schools in this world, acquire the best education money can buy and yet none of them will be able to tell you what’s really important to your happiness.
This reason for this is not because the schools hate you, it’s because the schools focus on the “World Without“, that is, external things. The reality is that the “World Without” is a reflection of the “World Within“, that is, your inner world.
Your “World Within” i.e. – your inner world, is spiritual and it is dominated by whatever you pay attention to. The power of attention is so big that everything in your current reality is a product of the things you’ve been paying attention to.
The quote at the beginning of this article stated: “Tell me what you pay attention to and I will tell you who you are.” The truth is in this quote is so profound that if you ask anyone to tell you what occupies their mind most days, you can’t fail to come to the most accurate description of that person reality.
You are at this moment the sum total of the things you pay attention to. The things you pay attention to; determine your thoughts, your thoughts dictate your actions and your actions determine your results in life.
The power of attention is not just limited to thoughts, you can use it to solve problems, achieve goals and so much more. For the sake of this article, I will focus on using the power of attention to solve problems and achieve life goals.
Using Your Attention To Solve Problems
We all have one problem or the other. There is no one on this planet earth who is without any life problem. Problems are part of life. Learning to deal with life problems is what’s most important.
Whatever problem you have right now, it doesn’t matter how big that problem is, I can guarantee you that you can solve that problem by simply using the power of attention.
How to Solve Your Life Problems With the Power of Attention
To solve your life problems with the aid of your supernatural gift called attention, do the following:
(1) Every night, after you have taken your night bath or shower, sit in a comfortable chair in a quiet room. Dim or turn off the lights.
(2) Do a bit of breathing exercise for 5 minutes. This involves inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth.
(3) Relax all your muscles and nerves. Forget all the problems you might have or any unpleasant thing you might be going through.
(4) Close your eyes and spend about 5 minutes thinking about possible solutions to that particular problem you have.
DO NOT THINK ABOUT THE PROBLEM. ONLY THINK ABOUT “POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS”.
(5) Now, say: “My higher self, I have this ____________ problem, what are available solutions?” or “My higher self, I have this ____________ problem, provide me with the best solutions which are easy, painless and swift.”
Repeat this every night and you be surprised to realise that during the day, your mind will be occupied with possible solutions to that problem.
Solutions to that problem will be coming at you from all angles. You will see them online, you will see them on the streets and you will definitely meet people who will connect you to a solution that is easy, painless and swift for that problem you’ve got.
Achieving Life Goals With The Power of Attention
Pay attention to where you are going because without meaning you might get nowhere.
― A.A. Milne.
Achieving life goals with the aid or power of attention is really simple. In fact, you cannot achieve any goal if you do not give it your attention. Whatever we have achieved in life was achieved because we pay attention to those goals.
In order for you to achieve all your goals with the aid of your attention, you must first have a clear picture of the end product in your mind.
If an architect wants to design a house, before he or she starts drawing on the paper, he already has a clear image of the completed house in his mind. For the architect, the end-goal is the completed house and he is absolutely clear about what the end-goal is before he even commences the design process on paper or computer.
Just like the architect, you must have a clear image of your end-goal in mind. Once you have a clear image or idea of your end-goal. You must write it down somewhere and put it where you can see it every day.
If your goal is to have a business that generates a revenue of £2 million GBP annually, write on a piece of paper: “I have a business that generates a revenue of £2 million GBP annually.” Write this statement on several papers and on a blank business card.
Stick this statement to your fridge door, put one by your bedside table and put the one you wrote on the blank business card inside your wallet. Every day during working hours, you must bring out the statement written on the blank business card and read it out loud to yourself.
Doing this will focus all your attention on that aim and whatever you focus on will expand and manifest in your life. When you focus all your attention on this aim, you will realise that somehow you are attracting people and opportunities which will help you realise your goal. This is the power of attention in operation.
The predominant thought on your mind determines who you are. This is why José Ortega y Gasset said: “Tell me what you pay attention to and I will tell you who you are.” Do you know what this means? It means you can become whatever you want to be by simply focusing your attention on that particular thing.
What do you want to be? What do you desire in life? What are your current obstacles and hindrance? Whatever the answers to these questions might be, you can, and you will get the solution to them all by using the power of your attention.
If you take nothing else away from reading this article, please note down this vital lesson and it is: “You are the sum total of the things you give your attention to.”
If you have a problem, give your attention to finding the solution and you will find the solution. If you want to become anything in life, give your attention to that particular thing and in little to no time, you will become that particular person you desire to be. For whatever you give your attention to that you will become because the power of attention lies in its ability to conspire with all the powers of the universe in assisting you to become what you focus it (attention) on.
