The outer world of circumstance shapes itself to the inner world of thought, and both pleasant and unpleasant external conditions are factors, which make for the ultimate good of the individual.

To say that a lot of people are suffering is like saying water is wet – i.e., stating the obvious. The fact is that most people are in some sort of pain, and most are clueless about what’s responsible for their suffering or why. If you’re currently suffering in one form or another, it’s vital that you know and understands why you suffer.
Not all sufferings are bad, sufferings are an essential part of both your mental and spiritual development. So, knowing and understanding why you suffer is a vital piece of information that you must have as you continue your personal-development journey in this reality.
Before I tell you why you suffer, I believe that it’s vital that you know the origin of your all sufferings, because knowing the origin of all your sufferings will be the difference between living a life of bliss and pain. Let’s look at the original of all your sufferings.
Every man is where he is by the law of his being; the thoughts which he has built into his character have brought him there, and in the arrangement of his life there is no element of chance, but all is the result of a law which cannot err.
James Allen – As A Man Thinketh
The origin of all your suffering is your thought. It’s as simple as this. The thoughts you dwell upon, the mental conversations you have with yourself everyday shapes and transforms themselves into circumstances.
These circumstances, though at first look might appear random, are products of the thoughts and inner-being of the person faced with the circumstances.
The soul attracts that which it secretly harbours. The circumstances and environment you find yourself right now are there because of the seeds of thoughts you have been sowing for months or even years.
The Law of Divine Timing determines the time it takes for an individual to sow a seed of thought in the garden of his or her mind, and harvest – harvest being the circumstance the individual is faced with.
If a man hates his current circumstance and environment he should examine his thoughts, especially his past thoughts, and he will see that there was a time in the past whereby he was mentally dwelling in his current circumstance and environment.
Good thoughts yield good fruits in the form of comfortable, lovely and happy circumstances while bad thoughts yield bad fruits in the form of unhappy, unpleasant and painful circumstances.
When a man watches his thoughts and guards his mind against harmful, unpleasant and impure thoughts, his environment and circumstance will change to reflect these changes.
Why You Suffer
The sole and supreme use of suffering is to purify, to burn out all that is useless and impure. Suffering ceases for him who is pure. There could be no object in burning gold after the dross had been removed, and a perfectly pure and enlightened being could not suffer.
James Allen – As A Man Thinketh
If you are suffering in any shape or form it’s because there is a lesson to be learned from your current situation which you haven’t learnt so far.
The suffering you are currently going through is a purification process. The sole purpose of the pain is to help you remove all the things in your life that are not in harmony with your true being.
Once you have learned the lesson the suffering brought with it and have implemented the lessons by removing everything in your life that’s not in harmony with your true being, the suffering ceases because purity has been attained, the lesson has been learnt.
As James Allen puts it – There could be no object in burning gold after the dross had been removed.
But if you fail to either learn the lesson the suffering brought with it or you fail to implement the lessons learned, then the suffering persists.
Conclusion
When you dwell on bad and harmful thoughts, you attract circumstances which are in harmony with these thoughts into your life.
A person is master of his or her destiny. This truth can be seen when a man alters his thought for good or bad, his immediate environment and circumstance alters to reflect the current state of his inner-being.
The things and people that are in your life right now are there because you attracted them. You attracted them with your thoughts and inner conversations.
And if for some reason the things you’ve attracted into your reality has resulted in you suffering in one way or the other, then accept the suffering. Learn from the painful experience because the suffering is there to help you learn and grow.
Within every suffering is a lesson to be learnt and until this lesson is learned the suffering will persist. So dear reader, whatever you are currently going through, find out what lesson is there to be learned.
Once you’ve learned the lesson the suffering brought with it, you will soon realise that the suffering passes away.
